Participation Costs

  • The participation costs include for the 2 years the institutional tuition fees, the health and accident insurance, and the participation in all teaching activities of the programme, including lab courses, excursions, visits, the Summer schools (one per year), and the  immersive week at University of Liège, Belgium.
  • The participation costs don’t include the travel, housing and living expenses.

For the self-funded students

The participation costs to be covered by the student depend on the citizenship and on the specialisation track that is selected.

For the students with a Reduction of Participation Costs

This reduction is offered upon decision of the DENSYS admission board for a few students per cohort. The participation costs to be covered by the student depend on the citizenship and on the specialisation track that is selected.

For the students with an EMJM scholarship

The participation costs are fully covered by the European Union.

What about part time job during my studies?

Even though it is not forbidden, during the first year in UL this is in practice not possible. Why? The program is really demanding, the class schedule changes every week, and it’s really hard to find a job without speaking French.

For the 3rd semester, the feedback from the students is almost the same in POLITO and UPC. The only exception could be in KTH but we have very little experience on which to base this point.

Our advice is clearly to not rely on a part-time job and make sure that you can afford the programme (participation costs and other expenses) on your own.

Participation Costs, EMJM Scholarships and Reduction of Participation Costs

How does it work?

Applying for DENSYS implies two things: applying to the programme and applying for a financial support (an EMJM Scholarship or a Reduction of Participation Costs). So, at at the end of the admission board, an applicant can be assigned 4 statuses. Of course, depending on the feedback of the other students, this status can change during the months after the admission board.

  1. Admitted with an EMJM scholarship. This scholarship covers the participation costs and a monthly allowance (1,400 €/month) for the full 2-year Master’s program.
  2. Admitted as a Self-funded student with a Reduction of Participation Costs.
  3. Admitted as a Self-funded student
  4. Not admitted.

For the statuses 2 and 3, the participation costs and the other expenses (travel, housing and living expenses) should be covered by the student, with or without the help of another type of scholarship (Regional or National scholarships, scholarship awarded by the French government in some countries like India for example, Eiffel Excellence Scholarship).
