The DENSYS Master programme has been designed to include four full partner institutions and their respective departments specializing in complementary areas of development that together build up a coherent programme focusing on Decentralized smart ENergy SYStems that is in line with the SET-PLAN (Strategic Energy Technologies Plan) goals of the EU Energy Union.

Université de Lorraine

Université de Lorraine (Nancy, France) has a long-term experience in microgrids, chemical energy carriers and hydrogen energy. UL is currently participating in 5 active EMJD programmes and has signed almost 1200 ERASMUS agreements and 400 incoming students and 800 outgoing students, is handling 500 other cooperation agreements with double degrees.

Kungliga Tekniska högskolan - Royal Institute of Technology

KTH (Stockholm, Sweden) brings his experience in large energy systems management with integration of renewable energy sources KTH is part of 49 EU granted educational projects and participated recently to 2 EMJMD progammes, and devotes to offer the highest quality educational training and research environment to the students.

Politecnico di Torino

PoliTo (Torino, Italy) is a crucial actorin power-to-X conversion. PoliTo has 1,000 agreements with EU and non-EU universities, including 140 double delivered degrees. Exchange students with 802 incoming students and 1163 outgoing students.

Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech

UPC (Barcelona, Spain) brings his experience in thermal energy systems. UPC is currently participating in 6 active EMJD programmes, teaching 28 MSc in English, with 34 international double master degree agreements, 2,997 international mobility programme participations and 4,678 education cooperation agreements with companies.

DENSYS takes advantage of courses jointly developed (and with a significant part of specially designed courses) within national mastersu2019 programs that are among the leading ones in their respective countries but also new courses especially built up thanks to the complementary fields of the 4 partners.

Prof. Fabrice Lemoine - Programme chair and local coordinator at UL

Pr. Fabrice Lemoine is a full professor at Université de Lorraine and is a specialist of heat and mass transfers in fluids. He is the responsible of the socio-economic challenge "Energies for the future" in the excellence programme of UL, a part of the French excellence program. He authored more than 150 articles and conference papers. He represents the French university rectors conference in the French alliance for energy research (ANCRE).

Heathcliff Demaie

Heathcliff Demaie - Programme vice-chair

Heathcliff Demaie, Université de Lorraine, has graduated in Engineering from ENSTA-Paris Tech. He was a R&D engineer and lead various projects for 15 years in different technology companies before joining the Université de Lorraine to manage research programmes related to energy and hydrogen. He represents UL in the Hydrogen Europe Research and in the joint program Hydrogen and Fuel Cell of the European Energy Research Alliance.

Samira Menouar - Programme manager

Samira MENOUAR, Université de Lorraine, has graduated from a Master’s degree in International Business at the London Metropolitan University. She, then gained experience in the market research industry at an international level (Europe, Great-Britain & Algeria) before returning to France where she joined the Université de Lorraine. She was in charge of postgraduate programs in IT including a Master Erasmus Mundus.

Dr. Justin Chiu - Local coordinator at KTH

Dr. Justin Chiu, assistant professor in the field of energy storage from material level to system analysis. He has previously been involved in management of Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctoral programme SELECT+. He has acted as the local coordinator for Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters ME3 at KTH since 2015. He is currently teaching Renewable Energy Technology courses and leads pedagogical course on Educational Aspects in Energy Technologies.

Dr. Marta Gandiglio - Local coordinator at PoliTo

Dr. Marta Gandiglio, associate professor, is a specialist in biogas, fuel cell and hydrogen. in the Department of Energy, Politecnico di Torino. She is the is author of more than 50 papers in international journals and conferences. Her main research activity is linked to Solid Oxyde Fuel Cell and Energy systems based on hyrogen technologies. She is coordinating several European on those topics for Politecnico di Torino.

Prof. Joaquim Rigola - Local coordinator at UPC

Prof. Joaquim Rigola is a full professor of the Thermal Machines and Heat Engines Department at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya UPC BARCELONA TECH and Co-Director of the Heat and Mass Transfer Technological Center CTTC at UPC. He is the coordinator of the Thermal Energy Engineering Master and professor of the Ph.D. Thermal Engineering Program both at UPC. He has been working for 30 years on heat and mass transfer phenomena analysis (55 international journal publications, 150 peer-reviewed international conferences, and 45 national and EU projects).
